Zatoichi: Audience

I am watching Zatoichi, a film about a blind Japanese swordsman. The traditional Japanese dancing piece infused heavily with strong rhythmic modern tap-dancing intrigues me.

Would Malaysian audiences prefer the real thing - authentic portrayals of traditional art, or would they get bored with the stuff and yearn for more creative expressions?

My experience is that if you make it authentic, some would complain, and if you take creative licenses, others would complain as well.

So the only answer is to do what you believe to be true, honestly, and be damned the rest. You will never please anybody anyway.
